General Announcements

“JOURNEY THROUGH LENT” —is the booklet produced every year to help guide our Lenten experience in a very practical way. The booklet is available on the tables in the Commons at both of our parishes.
……………………………………………………………..
OUR NEXT DELEGATION TO NICARAGUA—will be going right after Easter. We still have an opening. It will be one week. Please call Fr. George if you are interested. It will be a special event in your life.
………………………………………………..…………
INCLEMENT WEATHER REMINDER—on Saturdays and Sundays when winter roads can be hazardous, information concerning Mass schedules can be found on the respective email alerts from both our parishes as well as the following radio stations: AM600, AM1320, FM102.7 (Murphy): FM101.1 (Blairsville): FM97.9 (Copper Basin). Announcements will be made ONLY when Masses are canceled. No announcement means Mass will be celebrated as scheduled.
……………………………………………………………………..
STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT— “Your light must shine before all so that they may see goodness in your acts.” (Matthew 5:16)
……………………………………………………………..
SAVE THE DATE—Monday, March 22 at 6PM at IHM for the film “Black Gold” which traces the efforts of small farmers to get a living wage from the production of coffee. This will be a “dinner and a movie” evening hosted by Pax Christi. More details to come.
…………………………………………………………………….
HELP NEEDED —Please check Sr. Terry’s list for needy families. It is on the bulletin board in the Commons of both of our parishes.
……………………………………………………………
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS—will have a Fish Fry at IHM on March 12. All proceeds will go to a local charity. Adults $7.00 and children under 12 $3.50. The hours will be from 5 to 7PM.
……………………………………………………………
QUIT NOW—is a stop smoking program with a tentative beginning date of March 18. This program is endorsed by the Health Department and Murphy Medical Center. It is being coordinated by the health department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Registration is essential to discern interest. Please call Carl Hartman at 828-321-0522 ASAP.
……………………………………………………………..
FRANK RUNYEON—returns with his acclaimed performance of Sermon on the Mount to IHM for one night only, on Friday, March 19 at 7PM. The St. William performance will be on Thursday, March 18 at 7PM when he will present the Gospel of Mark. Runyeon sets the famous Sermon in a revealing new setting: as told by the apostle Matthew to the church in Antioch, shortly after the Roman army has burned Jerusalem to the ground. In the end, all those present have the sense that this sermon is about them, in some mysterious way, they, too, must decide, as did the crowd on the mountain, what they will go do now. Tickets are on sale, get them now, they are going fast.
……………………………………………………………..
WOMEN’S ENRICHMENT CENTER—The annual Walk for Life for the Woman’s Enrichment Center is scheduled for Saturday, March 20 at 9AM for the Center in Blairsville. Consider walking with others to support the needs of this wonderful ministry. The Center provides women and families with material support, counseling and training to improve their lives. For more information contact Nancy Lorie at 367-0479 or the Center at 706-835-1252.

Insurance Guidelines for Non-Church (Private) functions:

Anyone, including parishioners, wishing to use any of the church facilities for a private function must provide proof of general liability coverage in the amount of $1 million at least one week before the event. If the user is unable to obtain coverage through his/her own insurance company, a policy may be obtained through the Diocese for $100. Contact the church office to fill out the application. At the time of reserving space, a Usage Form needs to be completed in the office at St. William.

SPECIAL NOTICE CONCERNING HOSPITAL VISITS—new federal regulations severely restrict the availability of information concerning patients in hospitals. Without notification from family or friends to the parish office it will be impossible to know if a member of the parish is in the hospital.  Please call the Parish office if you know someone would like a visit.

DIOCESAN REQUIREMENTS FOR REPORTING
MINISTRY-RELATED SEXUAL ABUSE OF A MINOR

Any individual having actual knowledge of or reasonable cause to suspect an incident of ministry-related sexual abuse is to immediately report the incident to the Chancery.

The Chancery will be notified of the particulars regarding the Chancery's filing of the incident with civil authorities.

This reporting requirement is not intended to supersede the right of an individual to make a report to civil authority, but is to insure proper, complete and timely reporting.  Should an individual choose to make a report to civil authority, a report is still to be made to the Chancery.
